Responsibilities of the SMT Operator
- Operate solder paste (Ekra E4 & X4), reflow oven (BTU), and SMT pick/place machines (Mydata & Samsung)
- Set-up SMT component feeders and trays for SMT pick/place machines
- Set-up solder paste machines for stenciling printed circuit boards
- Set-up reflow oven for soldering printed circuit board assemblies
- Must be a fast learner, self-motivated and team player that is able to work in a fast-paced/challenging/demanding and dynamic work environment
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, and reflow ovens, according to production schedules and specifications.
- Component Placement: Ensure accurate placement of components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) following design layouts and quality standards.
- Inspection and Testing: Conduct visual inspections of solder joints, components, and PCBs for defects using magnification tools or AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of SMT equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
- Programming: Create or modify SMT machine programs for efficient production runs and product quality.
- Quality Control: Adhere to quality assurance procedures and resolve any issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine settings, and quality reports.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, engineers, and quality control personnel to ensure product quality and resolve technical challenges.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and ensure the workspace is clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electronics or manufacturing is preferred.
- Proven experience operating SMT machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SMT equipment, components, and PCB assembly processes.
- Familiarity with soldering techniques and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, and production schedules.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with machine programming software.
- Ability to lift and move equipment or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
